Bake sale will aid Scleroderma Foundation

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Scleroderma Support Group is having a bake sale from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave. The sale begins immediately after church, approximately 11:30 a.m. The sale will feature Greek pastries, loukoumades, rice pudding and koulouria.

Another bake sale is planned for March 9 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St. The sale begins after church, at about 11:30 a.m.

All proceeds from the bake sales will be used for the “Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma” fun walk June 7 at Boardman Park on Route 224, which will feature food, prizes, a 50-50 raffle, Chinese auction, clowns and more.

Scleroderma is a chronic, progressive autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues. The disease can cause thickening and tightening of the skin as well as serious damage to internal organs. An estimated 300,000 people have been stricken with disease, and there is no cure.

Victory Christian School plans large auction

NILES — Victory Christian School, 2053 Pleasant Valley Road, will have an auction March 7. Viewing of silent auction items will begin at 5 p.m., the first silent auction will close at 6:30 p.m., and the last one, at 6:50 p.m. At 7 p.m. the live auction will start. Included will be items such as a new Yamaha motorcycle, Cleveland Indians tickets, an overnight stay at Kalahari Water Park Resort, complimentary one-day Walt Disney World passes, Busch Gardens Tampa passes and gift certificates from restaurants, fitness centers, entertainment venues. Heartland school plans its annual auction

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian School, 28 Pittsburgh St., has scheduled its 12th Annual Community Auction for 10 a.m. March 15 in the school gymnasium. Private and business donations will include antiques, tools, a piano, a sofa, certificates, curio collectibles, Browns and Steelers collectibles, a cruise for two, a Golden Doodle, a trip to North Carolina and more.

Proceeds will be used to repair and maintain the school and to benefit the students. The school offers classes for preschool through grade 12. Jim Kellner will be the auctioneer.

Benefit dinner set

BOARDMAN — The cafeteria at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., will be the setting for a spaghetti dinner to be held from 1 to 5 p.m. March 16 as a benefit for Elvis Caraballo, a cancer patient who has five young children. Proceeds will be used to defray some of his medical costs.

Meals will include salad, bread, beverage and dessert, and takeouts will be available. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. There will also be a 50-50 raffle and Chinese auction.
