Students weigh in on Obama vs. Clinton

Students at Youngstown State University were asked their thoughts on Tuesday’s Ohio Democratic primary pitting Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Tina Lamb, a 19-year-old sophomore from Leetonia: “I’m voting for the first time. It’s going to affect my future. I’m an Obama supporter. He has good things to say.”

Edwina Baier, a 23-year-old senior from Campbell: “I’m supporting Hillary. I’ve come to the conclusion that she has the most experience. I believe in what she says. I believe she’s a better candidate. She’s a brilliant woman.”

Cassandra Baker, a 19-year-old sophomore originally from Maui, Hawaii: “I’m actually split. I’m leaning more toward Obama, but I still want to hear from both sides. I like his political stance on the war and health coverage. He is against the war. I have a brother fighting over there [in the Air Force] and I want him to come home.”

Zane Calik, a 19-year-old freshman from Liberty: “When I was real young, I was so incredibly impressed with Bill Clinton and his presidency. The type of experience he has is rubbing off on her. She’s doing a better job with health care than Barack Obama. Their policies are somewhat similar, but she’ll be able to implement hers because of her experience.”

Matt Anderson, a 20-year-old sophomore from New Castle, Pa.: “Obama is the best candidate. He’s really for the people. He’s different from the norm. I believe in a lot of things he’s saying. He’s been truthful.”

Nicole Hinchcliffe, a 21-year-old senior from Youngstown: “I feel experience is No. 1 in this campaign. We need her in there. She has what it takes to run the country: integrity, intelligence, a strong will.”
