MEN

Grove City 88, Waynesburg 73

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Shawn Carr poured in 24 points and added seven rebounds, both team-highs, to lead second-seeded Grove City in the opening round of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference tournament. Kris Verdeber added 11 points for the Wolverines (17-9), who led 43-35 at halftime. Andy O’Keefe, Ryan Gibson and Ryan Gerber all scored 10 points for Grove City (17-9), which will play host to Washington & Jefferson in a semifinal round game Thursday night. The Wolverines shot 59 percent (31-of-53) for the game and held Waynesburg to 38 percent shooting (23-of-61). Josh Parisi had 21 points and nine rebounds for Waynesburg (8-17). Jared Gamble added 13 points and Ryan Courneen scored 12.

Washington & Jefferson 67, Thiel 63, OT

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Josip Lucic-Jozak and Brian Felker scored 19 points each, combining for nine points in overtime, as W&J advanced to the PAC semifinals. Lucic-Jozak scored five points and Felker went 4-for-4 at the line in the extra session for the Presidents (13-13). Albert Varacallo added 12 points, while Wahab Owolabi scored 10 and had nine rebounds. Lucic-Jozak had 10 rebounds. Brandon Mirizio led Thiel (10-15) with 20 points, while Devon Adams added 17 points and three assists. Joe Herrmann finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Tommy Hall (Campbell) had seven rebounds.

Walsh 82, Malone 60

NORTH CANTON — Brandon Weems scored 22 points and Walsh used a 21-2 run over the final seven minutes of the first half to take control of the American Mideast Conference North South championship game. The win gave Walsh (25-4) an automatic berth to the NAIA national tournament. Eder Araujo added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Cavaliers, while Kyelce Cescato had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Malone will be the No. 1 seed in the AMC tournament.

WOMEN

Grove City 71, Bethany 68

BETHANY, W. Va. — Christine Slater scored 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting, and Krista Beechy added 13, as No. 6-seed Grove City upset No. 3 Bethany. Laura Miller added 13 points and Brittany Anderson and Raeann Szelong scored 10 apiece for the Wolverines (11-15), who advanced to a semifinal game at top-seeded Thomas More Friday. Thomas More defeated Waynesburg 61-33 Tuesday. Slater and Anderson had 11 rebounds apiece. Kaitlyn McCormick scored 14 points for Bethany (15-11), while Tara Harris added 11. Kelly Goode and Caelyn DiSanti scored 10 points apiece, and Goode had 10 rebounds.

Washington & Jefferson 94, Thiel 57

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Emily Hays and Maggie Gibson scored 19 points each — they combined to shoot 15-for-18 from the field — to lead No. 2 seed Washington & Jefferson (20-6). Stephanie Smith added 12 points for the Presidents. Gibson also had eight rebounds and four assists. Kim Stitt scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Thiel (7-18). Catie Sieber added 12 points, while Jasmin Jones scored 10. Jena Cook finished with nine points and four assists.
