Electricity users will have a chance to give opinions on Ohio Edison’s fee hike request

Electricity users will have an opportunity to give their opinions on Ohio Edison’s request to add about $6 to their electric bills.

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio is holding a hearing at 6:30 p.m. March 6 in the auditorium of Austintown Middle School, 800 S. Raccoon Road. The PUCO is holding hearings around the company’s service territory before deciding on the request.

Ohio Edison’s parent company, FirstEnergy Corp., is seeking to raise rates for its distribution service for the first time since 1990. If approved, the new rates would go into effect Jan. 1, 2009.
