CLEVELAND DEBATE: Scene at CSU

CLEVELAND — Outside the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University, supporters and protesters for the remaining Democratic presidential hopefuls line the snowy streets shouting chants and waving signs.

Inside, security is preparing for the masses of spectators waiting to see Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama go head-to-head. The debate, which will be broadcast live tonight on Channel 21 WFMJ and on MSNBC, is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

On the fourth floor of the center, the media is split into two rooms; one for broadcast, one for print. Inside, some reporters are mingling with one another while others are busy at work. Only a select few will be permitted into the photo spray area, which will be open briefly before the debate for photos of the candidates.

Aside from the candidates, various CSU staff, students and Ohio Democratic Party members, Governor Ted Strickland and executive producer of NBC News specials, Philip T. Alongi, will be speaking. NBC News national anchors Brian Williams and Tim Russert will be moderating the debate.
