YOUNGSTOWN — It’s a family affair.
Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, and Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, are to campaign in the Mahoning Valley.
Clinton’s daughter will be at Youngstown State University in the Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room at 3:15 p.m. today.
The Obama campaign announced that the candidate’s wife will meet with voters in six Ohio cities, including Warren, on Wednesday and Thursday.
The time, location and the date of her appearance in Warren is not yet scheduled.
The Obama campaign says the event will be open to the public.
The candidates have campaigned throughout Ohio leading to the state’s important primary next Tuesday. The primary could play a major role in determining the Democratic nominee for president.
The two candidates started their Ohio campaigns in the Mahoning Valley.
Clinton was here twice, Feb. 14 at the Lordstown General Motors complex and Thursday at Chaney High School in Youngstown.
Obama held a Feb. 18 rally at Youngstown State University.
Both are expected to return before next week’s primary, but no local events for either have been announced by their campaigns.
Clinton’s husband, former President Clinton, and their daughter, as well as Obama’s wife, have visited numerous locations in Ohio in recent weeks.
But none has come to the Mahoning Valley.
That all changes today.
Chelsea Clinton has visited numerous college campuses to attract younger voters to her mother’s campaign, but this is her first stop at YSU.
With Obama gaining momentum in recent weeks, political analysts say Clinton must win Ohio’s primary next Tuesday to stay in the race.
Several polls show Clinton with a lead over Obama in Ohio.
