Michigan State presents coach Tom Izzo his 300th career win

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Raymar Morgan scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and No. 19 Michigan State beat Iowa 66-52 Saturday, coach Tom Izzo’s 300th career win with the Spartans.

Six weeks after a humbling 43-36 loss to the Hawkeyes, the Spartans (22-5, 10-4 Big Ten) jumped to a 20-1 lead over the opening 10:20 and were never seriously threatened.

Drew Neitzel had 12 points and Drew Naymick grabbed eight rebounds for the Spartans. Cyrus Tate led Iowa (12-16, 5-10) with a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds.

Michigan 49, Illinois 43

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Manny Harris scored 14 points and Kelvin Grady added 12 as Michigan outlasted Illinois.

The teams combined to shoot just 31 percent from the floor, with Michigan (9-18, 5-10) winning despite hitting just 30 percent of their shots. The Illini (11-17, 3-12) lost their third straight and failed to break 45 points for the second time in less than a month.

Harris and Grady were the only Wolverines to reach double figures, while Calvin Brock led Illinois with 12 and Trent Meacham added 11.
