Five girls teams advance to regional

The Canton Civic Center will have a definite Mahoning Valley feel to it Tuesday night at the girls Division I regional basketball tournament.

Boardman and Howland are two of five area teams who have advanced to the sweet 16 of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament, and will play in the semifinals against Akron Kenmore and Mayfield, respectively.

Those two big-school teams are joined in the regional by Canfield (Div. II), Brookfield (Div. III) and McDonald (Div. IV). The five teams have a combined record of 103-15.
