Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year. In most cases, children must be age 5 by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody may also be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.

St. Rose: Parents or guardians of children enrolling should visit the school. 61 E. Main St., Girard, between 9 and 11 a.m. on Thursdays. Assessment screenings will be done and visitors will tour the school and meet other pupils as well as faculty and staff. Contact Mrs. Lenhart at (330) 545-1163 for a reservation.

Campbell: Registrations are being accepted at Campbell Elementary School, 2002 Community Circle, from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m., and 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. on these days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week; March 11, 12 and 13; April 15, 16 and 17; and May 13, 14 and 15. In addition to the above-mentioned items, parents must bring their own proof of identity and three proofs of residency.

St. Patrick: Screenings will be conducted May 6 at the school, 38 E Water St., Hubbard, and will be done by appointment only. To schedule a time and receive a registration packet, call the school at (330) 534-2509 or visit the Web site at:www.stpatshub.com.

South Range: Parents may register their children by telephone by calling South Range Elementary School, 11836 South Ave., North Lima, at (330) 549-5578 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. March 3-7. Callers can make an appointment for screening, which will be done at a later date. Children to be registered must be residents of the school district.

Poland: Registration will be March 1 and March 8 between 9 a.m. and noon at Union Elementary School, 30 Riverside Drive. Parents or guardians don’t need to bring their children to registration. A child entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by Aug. 1. Screening will be April 22-24 and parents will be given an appointment time during registration. They will also be able to register their children for the Afterschool Care Program at Union Elementary during the registration process.

Lowellville: Registration will be extended through Friday at the school’s main office, 52 Rocket Place. Parents may register their children between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
