McDonald hangs on to move on

STRUTHERS — McDonald held Youngstown Christian to only two points in the second quarter and streaked to a 26-12 halftime lead, and led by as many as 21 points, 42-21, late in the third quarter.

But then Eagles’ coach Dolph Carroll unleashed his swarming defensive pressure that caused numerous McDonald turnovers. Youngstown Christian rallied to pull as close as three points, 54-51, in the waning seconds on Caleb Yanno’s two foul shots and goal.

However, Adam Streb hit two foul shots — he made McDonald’s final six points and ended with a game-high 26 — to seal a 56-51 win for the Blue Devils.
