Canfield begins search process
CANFIELD — City council has begun to evaluate the about 40 job applications it has received to replace City Manager Charles Tieche.
Council has met twice in executive session this week to discuss the matter. It closed applications for the position Jan. 30, Tieche said.
Council advertised nationally and locally for the position and has received applications from “a couple” Mahoning County residents, with the others coming from outside of the county, Tieche said.
Tieche has been city manager since April 1991 and plans to stay on as long council needs him to remain for the purposes of a smooth transition, he said.
“I live a block away today. I’ll live a block away tomorrow, so it’s not as if that will be a major issue for me,” Tieche said.
The job requires a bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in municipal public administration as chief administrative officer.
Pay for the position has not been set. Tieche earned $73,000 in 2007.
