BRIDGE BUILDERS Top finishers

Twelve teams from seven area schools took part in Friday’s event at Youngstown State University. A certificate, trophy and monetary award went to the first-place team, money and a certificate to the second-place team and a certificate to the top aesthetic team, all with wooden bridges that best conformed to design specifications and other criteria. Finishers, teams, advisers and grades:

First place: Lowellville High School Team No. 2: John Lyras, Dom Moore and Joe Arthur, all seniors.

Second place: Lowellville Team No. 1: John Vasilchek, junior; David Harris and Cody Whinery, both seniors; adviser for both teams, Richard Popio.

Aesthetics: Choffin Career Center Team No. 1: Jovan McCree, Alyssa Sykes and Jose Miranda, all juniors; advisers, Carrie Pateras and Kevin Sinkele.
