Dear Heloise: I have a lot of costume jewelry, and jewelry making is also a hobby. I had so many necklaces and earrings that I hung them on the wall behind the bathroom door using nails. I hung more and more stuff, and it began to look messy and disorganized.

So, at the home-improvement store, I bought several coat-hook assemblies. Each was a piece of painted wood with three, four or five hooks on them. My husband helped me hang them up. Now my jewelry looks great, and there is even room for more! K.M., New Braunfels, Texas

Behind any door is a good place to hang items like hats, purses and scarves. Use that space — don’t waste it! Heloise

Dear Readers: Here is a jewelry travel hint. Use the small, clear, stackable bead organizers (also sold to keep fishing lures in) for jewelry when traveling. You can store items individually or coupled together, and you easily can see what you’re looking for. Heloise

Dear Heloise: Instead of using paper towels to clean windows, for polishing, etc., I use clean cloth diapers. Their uses are unlimited. The square size are less expensive, at about $10 a dozen.
