Man killed in crash with salt truck


NORTH LIMA — The 22-year-old Austintown man killed this morning after losing control of his 2003 Honda Civic has been identified as Rodney A. Van Meter Jr. of Kirk Road. The Honda hit the back end of an Ohio Department of Transportation salt truck on state Route 11 southbound, just north of state Route 46, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield post. The patrol said the crash happened at 8:47 a.m. just south of the rest area in Beaver Township when the Honda went off the right side of the road, spun and struck the ODOT salt spreader. No one else was injured.
