A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Feb. 13

Arrest: Officers picked up a Hubbard man at the Mahoning County Jail. He was wanted by the Girard Municipal Court on a charge of failing to appear in court to attend a violation-of-protection hearing.

Feb. 15

Bad check: A warrant from the Girard Municipal Court was entered against a Hubbard man accusing him of passing bad checks.

Feb. 16

Theft: A man left in a green sport-utility vehicle after stealing a phone from a business in the 800 block of West Liberty Street.

Theft: A man accused his former girlfriend of taking items from his Caroline Avenue home.

Theft: A warrant was issued against a Hubbard woman charging her with the crime.

Burglary: A man who bought a piece of rental property in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue found out someone had broken in and stripped the copper and wiring.

Criminal damaging: A woman reported a door damaged at her residence in the 300 block of Hager Street.

Burglary: A Rebecca Avenue man called police after someone entered and took various items.

Feb. 17

Menacing: A Hillcrest Avenue resident reported being threatened via e-mail.

LIBERTY

Feb. 13

Identity theft: A Lucretia Avenue woman told authorities a man claiming to be her husband canceled her cell phone service by furnishing her Social Security number without consent, and that likewise three credit cards in her name had been canceled.

Arrests: While serving warrants at a residence on state Route 304, officers took into custody a woman, 43, and a 49-year-old man.

Theft by deception: A Ravine Drive woman told police she made a $1,300 down payment to a Boardman man, 49, as part of a home-improvement contract to replace interior doors but that he failed to perform the work.

Drug paraphernalia: While checking on two suspicious people in the 1900 block of Church Hill Road, police said they found a suspected crack pipe in the men’s car. Charged with possession of drug paraphernalia were a Cortland man and a Vienna man, both 24.

Feb. 14

Theft: A Utica, Mich., man discovered a $40 MP3 player missing from his vehicle while at a Belmont Avenue business.

Feb. 15

Assault: A Warren woman dropping off her stepson in the 5200 block of Sampson Drive alleged another woman pushed her into nearby bushes and into the accuser’s vehicle.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed eggs and damaged a Fifth Avenue man’s residence and vehicle, causing $1,000 in damage.

Arrest: Authorities took custody of a 37-year-old Youngstown man in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. He was accused of failing to appear for a violation-of-protection hearing.

Feb. 16

Drugs: A traffic stop on state Route 193 resulted in a 19-year-old Youngstown man’s being charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia when, police said, a small digital scale and a bag containing a large amount of suspected marijuana were found.

Criminal damaging: A worker for Church Hill Motors, 1480 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, saw that someone likely used a BB gun to break a vehicle’s driver’s-side window.

Drug paraphernalia: A 44-year-old New Castle, Pa., man was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after being pulled over in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue. A bag with five hypodermic needles, two suspected crack pipes and other suspected drug paraphernalia was found.

Feb. 18

Arrest: Police responded to a disturbance at a Belmont Avenue eatery, where they charged a 19-year-old Youngstown man with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business.

Drugs: After stopping a car on Gypsy Lane, officers took a 27-year-old Kent woman into custody who was wanted on a warrant from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. She faced a separate count of possession of drug-abuse instruments after police said they found three syringes; the woman admitted using heroin, the report showed.

Recovered property: Youngstown police found a 1998 Ford Expedition that was burned after it had been reported stolen in the 4200 block of Logan Gate Road.

Feb. 19

Auto theft: A Youngstown-Hubbard Road man reported the theft of his 2003 Dodge vehicle.

GIRARD

Feb. 15

Breaking and entering: Copper piping was removed from a vacant residence in the 600 block of North Ward Avenue.

Domestic violence: A 25-year-old Girard man was charged, accused of striking a family member twice in the face as she drove near their residence.

Theft by deception: A Norwood Avenue man learned he was to get medical equipment he bid on via the Internet, but that a Lauderhill, Fla., man told him to wire $2,400 to an account first. The local man told police he did so but never received the equipment.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke a basement window to a vacant Stambaugh Street home and removed copper plumbing.

Assault: A Girard woman reported a man pushed her several times at a South State Street business.

Feb. 17

Assault: A McDonald man, 21, faced charges of assault and disorderly conduct as police responded to a fight at a West Main Street business. Several witnesses told authorities the suspect punched another man in the face without provocation.

Theft: A man reported the theft of $1,000 worth of copper piping from a residence in the 100 block of Hazel Street.

Feb. 18

Criminal damaging: Someone broke a vehicle’s driver’s-side mirror and caused $300 in damage, in the 900 block of North Ward Avenue.
