LITTER CLEANUP GRANTS Area recipients
Ohio Department of Natural Resources Litter Cleanup Grants for 2008, totaling $115,885 and ranging from $200 to $2,500, are aimed at encouraging community participation in April’s Keep Ohio Beautiful Month activities, said ODNR Director Sean D. Logan. Funding comes from fees generated by construction and demolition debris landfills, and no local match is required. Area grant recipients are:
Mahoning County: Boardman Township, $2,242, one-day cleanup; Craig Beach Village, $2,500, cleanup in village streets and Lake Milton State Park; Lowellville Village, $2,150, one-day cleanup on village roads and the Mahoning River; Mahoning County Sanitary Waste District, $2,500, countywide cleanup in 14 townships, four cities and one park; Struthers, $2,500, one-day citywide cleanup targeting roadsides and parks; Youngstown, $2,500, litter cleanup event in all seven wards.
Columbiana County: Hanoverton Village, $2,025, village litter and tire collection day; Hartville Village, $2,350, village litter and tire collection day; Knox Township, $1,675, one-day township cleanup and tire collection; Salem Township, $2,375, township cleanup and tire collection day; Salem City, $2,350, citywide cleanup and tire collection day; Smith Township, $1,195, one-day litter cleanup of public lands in the township; Wayne Township, $2,025, one-day township cleanup and tire collection.
