art exhibit to close

NILES — An exhibition of art works by Kent State-Trumbull students at the Art Outreach Gallery closes Sunday with a reception from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The show opened Jan. 25. The gallery is in Eastwood Mall, along the concourse between Macy’s and J.C. Penney. Hours of operation are 5-9 p.m. Friday; 1-9 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. All exhibits are free.

Opera singer to perform
at Greenville church

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Opera singer Samuel DePalma will perform in concert at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Penn Avenue and Clinton Street. He will be accompanied by Tristan D. Cano. DePalma, a basso verdiano, has performed more than 30 major operatic roles, eight oratorios and song literature in eight languages. He made his American debut in 1986 as Ferrando in “II Trovatore” with the Nevada Opera Association. He has performed with Opera West at Brigham Young University, Palm Beach Opera and New Jersey State Opera, and has appeared at venues worldwide. He has performed alongside many of the world’s leading artists, including Jose Carerras, Placido Domingo, Eva Marton, Fiorenza Cosotto, Alfredo Kraus, Bonita Valente and Deloris Zajick. Cano is a senior at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati where he is finishing his studies as a piano major. He has wide operatic experience as the rehearsal pianist and accompanist for Valley Lyric Opera. The concert will include hymns, opera arias, art songs and Broadway show tunes. A free-will offering will be collected.

Pridonoff Duo to present
piano concert, class

ALLIANCE — The Pridonoff Duo will teach a piano master class and perform in concert Friday at Mount Union College. The master class will be from 4-6 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall, during which the Pridonoffs will teach four Mount Union students. The Pridonoffs will then perform a duo piano concert at 8 p.m., also in Presser Hall. The concert will include Francis Poulenc’s “Sonate”; Maurice Ravel’s” La Valse”; Franz Liszt’s “Les Preludes” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Suite No. 2, Op. 17.”

Elisabeth and Eugene Pridonoff have been performing as a duo for more than 25 years. They have performed throughout the United States and abroad. The Pridonoffs serve as duo-in-residence and professors of piano at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Both the master class and recital are free.
