Debates in court races scheduled for broadcast


Candidates will be
questioned by journalists and the Mahoning County Bar Association president.

BOARDMAN — Armstrong Cable subscribers can view debates in both the Mahoning County probate and common pleas court races at 7 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings between now and election day.

The debates may be viewed on Boardman Schools Television Network (BSTN), Armstrong Channels 19 and 204 for those with digital boxes.

The first hour of the debate focuses on the race for probate judge and features Judge Mark Belinky, who was appointed to the seat in November by Gov. Ted Strickland, along with Judge James Lanzo of the Struthers Municipal Court and Atty. Susan Maruca of the law firm, Betras-Harshman.

The second hour of the debate features the race for Court of Common Pleas General Division judge and features incumbent Judge Timothy Franken, recently appointed to his seat by the governor, along with Attys. Lou D’Apolito, Lou DeFabio and Jeff Limbian.

The debates are moderated by Atty. Mark Huberman, and questions are directed by Michelle Nicks of WFMJ-TV; J. Gerald Ingram, president of the Mahoning County Bar Association; and John Darnell of the Boardman News.
