CANFIELD

Feb. 11

Fraud: Police investigated a report from the Internet Crime Complaint Center in Clarksburg, W.Va., alleging fraudulent activity over the Internet. Two customers complained they had made purchases of jewelry over the Internet and after submitting payment of $21,120, they did not receive their merchandise. Police investigated and found there was no post office box as stated by the complainants and were informed by a local bank that a transaction for a wire transfer of $22,282 was received from Russia. Although the business looked authentic, the signature appeared to be copied, and no funds were transferred to Russia. Local police handed the investigation over to the FBI.

Feb. 12

Menacing, phone harassment: A resident in the 200 block of Carriage Lane told police he received repeated phone calls from rental properties he owns in Youngstown, and the person speaking was upset and threatened serious physical harm over the phone.

Drug paraphernalia: Police stopped a vehicle at West Main Street and the bypass and found paper clips with burnt marijuana residue and paper towels with marijuana residue and a vial of an unidentified substance. They arrested a 40-year-old North Jackson man on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 16

Drug abuse, paraphernalia: Police arrested a 57-year-old Youngstown man on charges drug abuse, obtaining, possessing and use after a traffic stop on state Route 46 north of Curtis Street. Police found a brown wooden bowl, a pipe containing suspected marijuana and a small plastic bag containing three grams of suspected marijuana.

AUSTINTOWN

Feb. 11

Forgery: An Internal Revenue Service refund check was forged by a woman’s husband at a home in the 6000 block of Kirk Road.

Theft: A tailgate to a Dodge pickup was stolen at Home Depot, 6100 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A tailgate to a Dodge pickup was stolen from Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Illegal display of police emblem: A woman was issued a summons at Mahoning Avenue and Marcia Drive for an illegal display of a police emblem on her car.

Feb. 12

Theft: An 18-year-old woman was arrested on a theft charge at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A UPS delivery was stolen from the front porch of a home in the 200 block of Paris Drive.

Theft: Medication was taken from a home in the 3000 block of Starwick Drive.

Feb. 13

Attempted fraud: A fraudulent fax requesting that money be transferred was reported at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road.

Theft: Several items were taken from a home in the 6000 block of Ridgeview Drive.

Theft: Two 18-year-old men were released on a summons after being caught stealing at Wal-Mart.

Criminal damaging: Mailbox units were reported damaged in the 1400 block of Maplecrest Drive.

Feb. 15

Theft: A 17-year-old female was caught stealing at Wal-Mart and was released to her parents.

Feb. 16

Disorderly conduct: Police arrested a man on a charge of disorderly conduct in the 800 block of North Meridian Road.

Vehicle theft: A 1985 Yamaha four-wheeler was stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Central Avenue.

Theft: $30 worth of gasoline was stolen from Certified Oil, 825 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: Police caught a man concealing a hard drive in his pants at Wal-Mart. He was taken to Mahoning County Jail.

Feb. 17

Theft: A purse was stolen at Quaker Steak and Lube, 5800 Interstate Blvd.

Theft: A purse was stolen at The Babylon, 114 Javit Court.

Assault: An unidentified man assaulted another man at The Wedge, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.

Assault: A woman was issued a summons on charges of assault and criminal trespass at a home in the 200 block of South Roanoke Avenue.

Theft: A wallet was taken from Quaker Steak and Lube.

Theft: A wedding ring was stolen from Austinwoods Nursing Home, 4780 Kirk Road.
