Kent State registers 21st victory

KENT — Al Fisher scored 17 points and Chris Singletary added 16 to lead Kent State past Ohio 72-62 Saturday.

The Golden Flashes (21-5, 10-2 Mid-American Conference) shot 65 percent from the field in the second half while running their home record to 15-0 this season.

Bubba Walther had 22 points off the bench for the Bobcats (16-9, 7-5), hitting 5-of-7 3-pointers. Leon Williams added 13 points and 12 rebounds, Allen Hester had 12 points and Jerome Tillman 11.

Akron 65, Bowling Green 56

BOWLING GREEN — Nate Linhart, Cedrick Middleton and Nick Dials each scored 14 points and Akron used its pressure defense to force 18 turnovers.

Chris McKnight added 10 points for the Zips (18-7, 8-4 MAC), who turned Bowling Green turnovers into 26 points.

Brian Moten had 15 points, Nate Miller 13 and Chris Knight 12 for the Falcons (11-13, 6-6).

E. Michigan 67, Cent. Michigan 64

YPSILANTI, Mich. — Justin Dobbins scored 15 points and Jarred Axon added 14 to lead four Eastern Michigan players in double figures.

Travis Lewis had 13 points and Carlos Medlock added 10 for the Eagles (10-14, 6-6 MAC). Jeremy Allen and Chris Kellermann scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, for the Chippewas (10-14, 5-7).

Miami (Ohio) 64, Buffalo 55

AMHERST, NY. — Kenny Hayes scored 16 points and Tim Pollitz added 12 to lead Miami. Tyler Dierkers grabbed 13 rebounds as the RedHawks (13-11, 7-5 MAC) won their sixth in seven games. Eric Pollitz added 10 points.

Byron Mulkey led the Bulls (8-16, 2-10) with 15 points, with Andy Robinson scoring 13 and Calvin Betts 10.

The Bulls hit just 31 percent of their shots from the field (10 of 32) in the second half after trailing 34-28 at the break. Miami shot 61 percent in the first half and never trailed in the final 32 minutes.
