Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year. In most cases, children must be age 5 by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody may also be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.

Sharpsville: Registration is now being accepted and parents should call Sharpsville Area Elementary School to receive a registration packet and obtain screening information. Screening will be done April 28-May 2. To be eligible, a child must be 5 years old by Sept. 1. To reach the school, call (724) 962-7168, Extension 6.

Hitchcock Woods School: Applications for kindergarten are now being accepted, and parents may enroll their child and tour the school at 8482 Hitchcock Road any weekday between 9 and 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The school also offers infant, day care, preschool and pre-kindergarten programs. Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten: Registrations are now being accepted for Fall 2008 classes at the school in Canfield. Programs are planned for Preschool for 3 and 4 year olds, as well as both transitional kindergarten and kindergarten. Additional care both before and after school is available.
