Kennedy’s visit to YSU to promote Obama

YOUNGSTOWN — Sen. Edward Kennedy is coming to Youngstown State University today to campaign for Sen. Barack Obama.

Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat and brother of the late President Kennedy, will speak in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and Kennedy will speak once he arrives from a campaign stop in Cleveland.

Organizers said tickets are not required for the free event but asked that reservations be made online at oh.barackobama.com/KennedyYoungstown.

Two weeks ago, Kennedy announced he was supporting Obama for the Democratic nomination for president. Kennedy said that Obama can inspire the nation and “renew our belief that our country’s best days are still to come.”

Kennedy also is scheduled to speak today at the Fairhill Center in Cleveland at 10:15 a.m. and at the Alpha Center in Akron at 3:30 p.m.

Kennedy’s visit follows a stop in the Mahoning Valley by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is opposing Obama for the Democratic nomination. She spoke Thursday at the General Motors complex in Lordstown.
