Cortland’s Rotary Club panel invites professionals to school

CORTLAND — The Vocational Committee of the Rotary Club of Cortland is inviting area business professionals to spend a half-day in the Lakeview schools Feb. 27.

The committee’s mission is to support community youth, recognize the contributions of community businesses and encourage the development of young people as they prepare for vocations and leadership opportunities.

To promote a school and business communications partnership, the committee wants area business people to tour the Lakeview facilities, observe student achievements and learn about the business operations of the school district.

There will also be a challenge, “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?,” modeled after a television show with the same name and focusing on the Ohio Achievement Test.

The day will begin at Lakeview High School at 8 a.m., move to Cortland Elementary School and end with lunch back at the high school.

Transportation between schools will be provided, with the chance to ride on a big yellow school bus.

Those interested in participating are asked to call Superintendent Bob Wilson’s office at (330) 637-8741 to reserve a spot.
