Summer Festival of Arts seeks artists, volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN — Artists can now apply to exhibit their work at the Summer Festival of the Arts, which will be July 12 and 13 on Youngstown State University’s campus.
Early deadline to apply for the juried fine art show — now in its 10th year — is April 4. Artists may submit entries in the following categories: two-dimensional fine arts, three-dimensional fine arts and fine crafts. Each application must be accompanied by the $20 jury fee. If accepted, the booth fee is $100.
“The Summer Festival of the Arts has welcomed a variety of artists throughout the years,” said Lori Factor, festival coordinator. “The jury process ensures a quality event with some of the finest artwork in the area made available to our patrons. We have become a destination event for local, regional and national artists to promote and sell their artwork. Patrons have come to expect a great selection of art year after year, and artists continually compliment this area’s hospitality.”
For an application, call Factor at (330) 941-2307; e-mail her at lafactor@ysu.edu; or go to www.ysu.edu/sfa and click on the application link.
The festival is also seeking volunteers for artist registration, information booths, the children’s hands-on art tent, technical assistance at performance sites and at the Festival of Nations international area. A variety of shifts are available for the two-day event. Each volunteer receives a festival T-shirt, cold water and reserved free parking. “Our volunteers are crucial to the festival’s success and offer a personal touch to make this event successful,” said Factor.
Interested persons can apply by calling or e-mailing Factor or going to the SFA Web site listed above, and downloading a form.
