Officials considering coupons for recyclers

CINCINNATI (AP) — Coupons for your trash?

Hamilton County residents could later this year start earning such recycling rewards. The county’s Solid Waste Management District is working with Rumpke Consolidated Companies Inc. on a pilot project to give coupons for goods and services based on how much people recycle.

The project depends on the district getting $100,000 for its costs from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. It will find out in May.

Officials say the project would be the first of its kind in Ohio. It would be managed by RecycleBank, which has increased recycling with the program in several eastern U.S. states.
