Democrat Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton addressed a spirited crowd this morning at the Lordstown General Motors complex, telling them: “The American Dream is being tested. You know it, you feel it.”

People are working harder to stretch their money, she said, following a spirited introduction by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland. Sometimes, she said, people are feeling overwhelmed.

“After a while you feel like a human ATM except the money’s all going out and none of it’s coming in,” she said.

That’s why she’s campaigning, she said.

“With President Bush, every day is Valentine’s Day — Valentines Day for the special interests,” she said. Bush has “blown the bank on tax breaks for his friends and no bid contracts for his cronies.”

This has happened while working people are stretching what’s in their wallet, she said.

“For seven long years I have stood up against a government of, by and for the special interests,” she said, talking about rebuilding the middle class.
