The unemployment rate leaps to a two-year high. Record numbers of people are forced from their homes and Wall Street takes a nose dive. So, what’s George W. Bush do? He takes a trip over to the Middle East to stick his nose in their business. It would be nice if he packed his bags and moved over there, because that’s what he seems to care about.

January 2009 can’t get here fast enough for me, and for the life of me I can’t figure out why someone hasn’t started impeachment proceedings against King George and shoot-em up Dick Cheney. What they have done to the Constitution of this great nation borders on high treason.

I always thought that free and fair trade created jobs due to increased productivity, but in the U.S.A. the opposite has occurred. But just wait until the Chinese Communists start sending their garbage cars over here by the thousands. The UAW won’t get any help from the antiunion Republicans. So, they have to go next election, and if anybody who works for a living votes Republican, they should get their head examined.

The sad part about these Communist cars coming over here is that dealers will sell them and people will buy them. We have to stop and think about all of the other garbage that was sent over here (toys, tires, etc.) and say to ourselves, “No way am I going to buy a Communist made car!”

Best of a bad situation

EDITOR:

I had an experience the afternoon of Feb. 5 when I went to Giant Eagle in Boardman to have my prescription filled. I became ill with heart pains. The clerk asked what was wrong. I believe half of the staff was around me to help at the time I needed it the most. Giant Eagle staff at the pharmacy were so nice to me. They called an ambulance for me, took my groceries to the car and then wanted to drive me home, but I was feeling better and told them that I could do it myself. They didn’t approve, but I am a person who doesn’t like to take up people’s time if I can help it.

They did a follow up on me. They called to see if I made it home safe and was resting. They also called my friends Ethel Nelson and Lillie Tevahan to check on me. The world is a beautiful place to live in, and if everyone would be kind to each other every day, it would be much better. I do love the whole staff at Giant Eagle in Boardman for their kindness.

A day to remember

EDITOR:

I recently spent a day with my grandson, Paul Cene, at Ursuline High school for grandparents day. The program consisted of a spiritual session, music by the choir, orchestra, concert choir, films and talks. They were of professional quality, enjoyed by grandparents and students.

I cannot express my pride in the students and the faculty. The spirit and the cleanliness of the school showed the respect the students had for their school, staff and faculty. I congratulate the parents, faculty and all involved in the lives of these young adults. I know that they are and will be great Christians and leaders of this community and the nation.
