EMU, Toledo, Ball State prevail

YPSILANTI, Mich. — Carlos Medlock matched his career-high 26 points and had five assists to help Eastern Michigan win its second straight home game Wednesday night, 78-68 over Bowling Green.

The Falcons (11-12, 6-5 Mid-American) cut the lead to 58-56 on Brian Moten’s 3-pointer with seven minutes to play, but Eastern Michigan answered with five straight points in the next three minutes. Bowling Green never got closer than five points the rest of the game.

Toledo 54, Ohio 52

TOLEDO — Tyrone Kent scored on a key layup in the last minute and sank two free throws with eight seconds left to give Toledo a comeback win.

Toledo (8-15, 5-6 MAC) trailed for most of the game and was behind by 12 points early in the second half. But the Rockets out-rebounded Ohio (16-8, 7-4) 19-12 in the final period and made 13 of 19 free throws — enough to form the backbone of the comeback.

Ball St. 76, Buffalo 67

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Peyton Stovall had a game-high 22 points to lead Ball State past Buffalo.

Ball State (4-19, 3-8 MAC) got 15 points from Brandon Lampley while Anthony Newell had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Melvin Goins scored 11 points for the Cardinals.

Calvin Betts led Buffalo (8-15, 2-9 MAC) with 12 points. Max Boudreau and Andy Robinson added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
