Champion sewer job to be decided today

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners are expected today to approve or deny construction of a $1 million sanitary sewer project in Champion Township.

If approved, the sewer line will begin at Old Colony Drive and State Road. It would run northeast and service State, Prospect, East Champion and Sunnyfield avenues and Nezbar Drive.

It will also run from 220 East Champion to Clovercrest to service that area.

Rex Fee, executive director of the county sanitary engineer’s office, said that 95.4 percent of the 48 household owners approve of the project while 4.6 percent disapprove.

If the sewer isn’t constructed, Fee explained, many of the homeowners will have to upgrade their septic systems.

Fee explained that if commissioners approve the construction, residents will have to pay a $1,850 tap-in fee and also hire a contractor to install a lateral that runs from the road to the house.
