Cafaro Foundation makes donation to Beatitude House
WARREN — The Cafaro Family Foundation is helping homeless women and children in Warren reclaim their lives.
The foundation donated $5,000 to help create homes, provide education and foster healthy families.
The funds will go toward Beatitude House’s facility here on Tod Avenue Northwest.
Beatitude House offers career preparation for underprivileged women and children. Homeless women and their children are able to live in this facility for up to two years and attend a full-time education program. Women also meet with an on-site counselor and case manager weekly.
Participants open a savings account when they enter the program, and 5 percent of their monthly income is deposited into the account.
The facility will undergo a planned expansion this summer, creating an additional six homes for homeless families. A total of $1 million has been raised, with just more than $400,000 necessary to complete construction.
Beatitude House, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters, opened its doors in 1991 to four families. Today nearly 2,000 women and children have been served. At any given time Beatitude House cares for more than 100 women and children.
Beatitude House also operates facilities in Youngstown.
