Hoover girls make short work of Fitch in opener

ALLIANCE — Austintown Fitch High fell behind 47-14 by the intermission and was eliminated by North Canton Hoover, 82-31, in the first round of the girls basketball Division I sectional tournament at Alliance High School Monday night.
Brittany Orban matched Fitch’s total points — 31 — in leading Hoover (19-2) to the victory. Eleven players got into the scoring column for the Vikings as Jessica Carpenter and Kylae Baumgartner added 11 and 10, respectively.
Rachel Rovan and Kayla Hanuschak each scored 10 points for the Falcons (6-15).
Division III
ASHTABULA — Pymatuning Valley defeated LaBrae, 54-45, in overtime, and Champion fell to Gates Mills Gilmour Academy, 76-21, in the opening round of the Div. III sectional at Lakeside High School.
Details were not reported on either game.
Salem 35, East Liverpool 30
EAST LIVERPOOL — Amy Scullion scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Quakers (15-6, 11-3) in a regular season Metro Athletic Conference game.
Brittany Ritchie added 12 points for Salem, which took a 9-2 first quarter lead.
Brittany Tomaselli scored nine points for the Potters (10-11, 5-8).
Boys
HERMITAGE, Pa. — Kennedy Catholic remained unbeaten in District 10 Class A with an 81-63 victory over Conneaut Valley.
The Eagles, 11-0 in D-10 play, led 46-32 at halftime.
Kyle Randall went on a 40-point scoring spree and he had seven assists for the Eagles. Jake Penn added 12 points and he grabbed 10 of Kennedy Catholic’s 36 rebounds.
Phil Kaikas added 11 points and Rocky Farmartino finished with 10.
Ben Varee led Conneaut Valley with 15 points and Casey Baker had 14.
