Trumbull Memorial appoints interim leader

WARREN — Todd Hickey has been appointed interim president and chief executive officer of Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He replaces Kevin Spiegel, who has accepted the position of CEO at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Hickey came to Forum Health in 2005, and most recently served as senior vice president of operations at TMH, said Lowell Johnson, current president and chief executive officer of Western Reserve Care System.

Johnson will become the chief executive of the Forum Health Care System, effective March 1. Forum Health is made up of the Western Reserve Care System, which includes Northside Medical Center in Youngstown; and TMH and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren and Howland, respectively.

Johnson said Hickey has guided many initiatives to enhance patient care, foster physician relationships and improve the financial performance of the hospital.

“Thanks to Todd’s contribution, TMH became the Mahoning Valley’s only accredited Chest Pain Center, and developed a Level III trauma center and an accredited Sleep Center,” Johnson said.

Hickey most recently helped solidify a partnership between TMH and University Hospital’s Ireland Cancer Center.

Hickey, instrumental in managing capital projects at TMH, oversaw the 2005 renovation and development of the Center for Emergency Medicine, the Skywalk over Market Street, and the Regional Oncology Center; and is facilitating the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s intensive care and cancer care units, Johnson said.
