Shooting leaves man ‘critical’

The shooting occurred after one man whistled at another man’s girlfriend.

YOUNGSTOWN — A 39-year-old Lisbon man, Robert McMaster, was in critical condition Saturday night in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot that morning in a gas station parking lot at the corner of McGuffey Road and Albert Street.

The shooting stemmed from an argument that began after McMaster, who was in the driver seat of his car, took offense when a man whistled at his girlfriend. She was returning from the store to the vehicle, according to a Youngstown police report.

During the argument, which a witness said became heated, the man produced a handgun and fired several shots into the front passenger area of the car.

McMaster and his girlfriend, 20, of Salem, and another passenger, a 41-year-old Salem man who was in the back seat, fled and drove to St. Elizabeth.

Police found the vehicle in the St. Elizabeth parking lot and impounded it as evidence.

No other injuries were reported. The police report does not indicate how many times McMaster was shot, or where he was wounded.

No arrests have been made.
