Thirty-five judges ranked a variety of projects at Saturday’s event in Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center based in part on grade level and category, with best-of-show finishers receiving $50 savings bonds. Top finishers, placements, grades and categories:
BEST OF SHOW
Fifth grade: Esperanza Cabrera, West Elementary School, life science
Sixth: William Spencer, Volney Rogers Middle School, physical science
Seventh: Nicole Miller, Volney, life science
Eighth: William Mintler, Volney, environmental science
Ninth: Brendan O’Hara, Chaney High School, physical science
Mathematics: Shannon Lytle, eighth grade, Volney.
FIFTH GRADE FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD PLACE
Life science: Esperanza Cabrera; Juliana Bresko, Taft Elementary; and Taylor Labus, Kirkmere Elementary.
