2 men sentenced in felony robbery from March 2007
Another man was sentenced to jail because of an accident during a driving suspension.
MERCER, Pa. — Several people were sentenced last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court records:
Jason Davis, 26, formerly of Lee Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced to 34 months to six years in the state penitentiary for felony robbery. He was given credit for 323 days already served. He and two other men held a gun to the neck of a man while they took money from him at an East Silver Street, Sharon, residence March 22, 2007.
Clyde Richards, II, 22, formerly of Superior Street, Hermitage, was sentenced to one to four years in the state penitentiary for felony robbery in the same case. He was given 312 days credit for time already served. Richards, Davis and another man forced three other men at the residence to lie on the floor and hit and kicked one victim in the head when he said he had no money.
Wade Pennington, 40, of Kane, Pa., was sentenced to six to 23 months in jail and fined $500 for an accident involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, a misdemeanor, and driving during suspension, a summary offense. Pennington was speeding on snow-covered Interstate 80 on Feb. 8, 2006, when he lost control of his car, spun out and came to rest across traffic lanes, causing another vehicle to strike him. Wade, his wife, Rose, and their five-year-old grandchild were injured and flown to Youngstown and Pittsburgh hospitals. Pennington’s driver’s license had earlier been suspended for driving while intoxicated.
Bruce Robinson, 27, of Ellis Avenue, Hermitage, was placed on one year’s probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He took compact discs and DVD’s valued at $500 from a neighbor’s residence in February 2007.
Samuel Thompson, II, 35, of Perry Highway, Mercer, was placed on two years’ probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. Between February and June 2005, he and another man stole 2,500 12-by-24 inch galvanized coated steel plates belonging to Ann-Lee Construction and Supply Co., from a road construction storage site on Pa. Route 358, New Vernon Township. They then traded the plates for cash at a Youngstown business.
Raymond Basham, 26, of Basham Lane, Grove City, was sentenced to three to eight months in jail followed by six months’ probation for a consolidated count of felony retail theft. Basham stole $10 worth of gas Oct. 22, 2006, from Sheetz, 1931 Leesburg-Grove City Road, Springfield Township. The offense is a felony because it is his third or subsequent.
David Reynolds, 22, of Utica, Pa., was sentenced to five to 20 months’ house arrest and ordered to perform 200 hours’ community service for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a felony. He had 0.38 grams of methamphetamine when apprehended June 8, 2006, at a Mill Street, Sandy Lake, residence.
Bobbie Saylor, 32, of Flick Road, Hadley, was sentenced to five to 20 months’ house arrest and ordered to perform 200 hours’ community service and make restitution for possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, a felony. She was apprehended Oct. 26, 2006, at Farrell’s Browse Shop, East Lacock Street, Sandy Lake, with 10 hydrocodone pills.
Richard Curtis, 33, of Hull Street, Sharon, was placed on one year’s probation for false identification to law enforcement, a misdemeanor. On Jan. 31, 2007, he operated a motor vehicle with a fraudulently altered Pennsylvania driver’s license. He was apprehended on North Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.
Gerald Detelich, 37, formerly of Dutch Lane, Hermitage, was placed on four years’ probation for simple assault, fleeing and eluding and two counts of theft by unlawful taking, all misdemeanors. On May 27, 2007, he grabbed a man by the neck, struck him and demanded money at East Budd Street and Wayne Place, Sharon. He got $25 from the victim. The same day he stole $37 worth of gas from Sheetz, Sourth Hermitage Road, Hermitage, and refused to stop his vehicle on East State Street, Sharon, after police signaled him with lights and siren.
Crystal Watterson, 30, of Watson Road, Mercer, was placed on two years’ probation for two misdemeanor counts of illegal sales of a controlled substance. On Oct. 30, and Nov. 1, 2006, she sold prescriptions for methadone to a confidential informant. She also possessed methadone in the both the incidents, which took place at an East Market Street, Mercer, address.
