NEWTON FALLS — The Newton Falls High basketball boys team clinched the Trumbull Athletic Conference title with a 59-32 victory Friday over Girard.

Newton Falls shared the title with Lakeview in 2003.

The Tigers (15-3, 12-0 TAC) trailed 25-16 at halftime, but bounced back to shut out the Indians (5-13, 5-7) in the third quarter while scoring 17 points.

The Tigers won in the final period, 17-7.

Todd Medallis scored 17 points and Cameron McCleary had 10 to pace the Tigers.

Brett Cubellis led the Indians with 11 points. Adam Charles finished with 10.

Lakeview 70, LaBrae 43

CORTLAND — Robert Franks had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jon Kittle 10 points and six assists to lead Lakeview (12-6, 9-3 TAC).

Justin Clark chipped in with 10 points, Dan Whaley with nine and Mike Graham copped 10 rebounds to bolster the Bulldogs, who made 28 of 58 from the field.

Bryan Watkins had 13 points and Cameron Truss 11 to pace LaBrae (5-13, 4-8 TAC) while Jacob Jaros added nine.

Crestview 54, Lowellville 49

LOWELLVILLE — Mark Einsiedel scored 17 points, including 5-for-6 from the foul line in about the last 40 seconds of play, to enable Crestview to hold off Lowellville.

Josh Orr added 11 points and Brian Gates 10 to aid Crestview (10-10), which had a 39-37 lead entering the final quarter.

Mauro Amendola had 14 points and five rebounds to lead Lowellville (4-15), while Dave Minnie chipped in with 11 points, Mike Basista 10 and Jim Sudon eight with five rebounds and five assists.

Leetonia 52, Lisbon 48

LEETONIA — It was the fifth straight win for the Bears (9-11) over the Blue Devils (0-20). Leetonia posted a 73-60 win over Lisbon earlier in the season.

Lisbon took a 17-15 lead in the first quarter, but Leetonia bounced back to hold a 31-27 lead at intermission and then held on for the victory.

Andrew Trummer scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bears. Tom Orr chipped in with 10 and he pulled down 11 rebounds and had four assists. Jake Kruegel had three steals.

Arlan Bailey, who connected on seven 3-point baskets, sparked the Blue Devils with 22 points. Todd Padurean added 17.

Western Reserve 58, United 55

HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (11-8) held a 27-20 lead at halftime, but the Blue Devils (9-10) outscored United 38-29 in the second half for the win.

Justin Lude sparked the Blue Devils with 24 points. Zach White netted 15.

Jimmy Phillis, McCavitt Carter and Jeremy Walker paced the Golden Eagles with 18, 15 and 12 points respectively.

Marlington 64, West Branch 55

BELOIT — Desmond Gattis scored 24 points to lead Marlington (15-4, 11-3), which outscored West Branch 38-30 in the second half of the Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.

Vic Pappas had 21 points and Alex Stull added 10 rebounds for the Warriors (11-8, 8-6).

Lordstown 66, Badger 60

LORDSTOWN — Jake DiEugenio scored 12 of his 15 points in the final period to lead Lordstown’s comeback win over Badger, which had a 43-36 lead going into the finale. DiEugenio had three 3-point goals.

Scott Chaffee took scoring honors with 25 points for Lordstown (8-10, 3-9 NAC), including five 3-point goals, and he added three steals; while Nate Rech contributed 15 points and five assists. Keith Simpson had seven points and four rebounds.

Brad Bates and Marcus Heath each plugged 18 points for Badger (5-11, 4-7 NAC), while Mike Armstrong added nine.
