Jesus party
NEW WATERFORD — East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 517, just west of state Route 7, will hold a Jesus party Friday. The events, held the third Friday of each month, feature games, food and Christian fellowship and give families with special needs children a chance to have a night out and meet families with similar needs. Lenten services
YOUNGSTOWN — Victory Lutheran Church, 2110 Glenwood Ave., will hold midweek services on the theme, “Lamb of God, Pure and Holy,” during Lent. Services, all at 6:30 p.m. will be Wednesday on “The Crucified Lamb of God;” Feb. 20, “The Patient Lamb of God;” Feb. 27, “The Lowly Lamb of God;” March 5, “The Lamb of God Who Bears Our Sins Away;” and March 12, “The Lamb of God Who Suffered Scorn.”
Slovak Mass
YOUNGSTOWN — Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St., will hold a special Slovak Mass in honor of its patron saints, apostles of Slavs, at 4 p.m. Thursday. The main celebrant will be the Rev. George M. Franko. Refreshments will follow the service. The Slovak Catholic Federation is sponsoring the celebration.
Churches raise funds
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. recently raised nearly $1,100 to benefit young patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis. In January, Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, New Bethel Baptist Church and Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church held designated offerings. The proceeds will support the research and charitable works of the Memphis facility. Nationwide, the international fraternity is committed to raising more than $500,000 over the next five years. St. Jude treats children with sickle cell, cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
Flame fellowship
BOARDMAN — Greater Youngstown Chapter of Flame Fellowship, an inter-denominational ministry, will meet Feb. 18 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Township Park. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the ministry at 7. Guest speaker will be prophetess Debra Ingram, director of the Healing Rooms of Mahoning Valley.
Ciferno in concert
CANFIELD — North Singles Group of Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, will sponsor Tia Ciferno in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. The event is free but an offering will be taken. Ciferno is from Warren and a member of the North Mar Christian Church.

HOWLAND — Pacesetters Outreach Ministry will present Bill Cloud of Shoreshim Ministries during a conference March 28 and 29 at the Avalon Inn, 9519 E. Evangelist to speak
NORTH JACKSON — Abundant Life Ministries Church, 51 S. Salem-Warren Road, will host the Rev. Michael H. Lord II, evangelist, during worship at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Movie to be shown
NORTH LIMA — A movie, “The Wager,” starring Randy Travis will be shown at 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. The film was released by Pure Flix Entertainment through Outreach Cinema, a new direct-to-church film releasing platform. The movie, a modern-day parable based on the book by Bill Myers, includes the topics of divorce, adultery, relating to non-Christians, sexual temptation, materialism, money and hypocrisy.
Meditation/recital series
YOUNGSTOWN — St. John’s Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., will present the first of its Lenten meditation and recital series at noon Tuesday with carillon music by Paula A. Kubik followed by meditation and recital by harpist Kirk Kupensky, minister of music at Unity Church Centre in Liberty. He completed a new CD of meditation music called “Sacred Sonics Vol. 1: Rest Among the Stars.” A light lunch will follow in Allen Hall. The programs are free.
Prayer series
YOUNGSTOWN — St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will sponsor a Lenten prayer series. Sessions, scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, will be: next week, “Silence and Stillness;” Feb. 20, “Hidden Life of Prayer;” Feb. 27, “The Lord’s Prayer;” and March 5, “Questions God Asks Us.”
