Web site war between Altiere and Consiglio

WARREN — Trumbull County sheriff’s candidate Joseph Consiglio jokingly says he might sell Sheriff Thomas Altiere a Web site on the Internet for his campaign.

Consiglio said today that his campaign purchased all the Web sites that Altiere might use for his campaign such as “Tom Altiere for Sheriff.” Consiglio said the domain names were purchased Aug. 27. Altiere is now charging Consiglio with playing dirty politics.

Consiglio said the strategy of blocking a candidate’s name from being used on a Web site has been used in other political campaigns and that Altiere should have planned ahead rather than reacting three weeks before the March primary. Both men are Democrats.
