Taylor guides East past Harding
ITCL champ McDonald beat Bristol to finish 19-1.
YOUNGSTOWN — Providence recruit Brittany Taylor scored 21 points with 10 rebounds, six steals and six assists to lead the East High girls basketball team to a 60-45 victory over Warren Harding in a Steel Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Monet Oliver added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Panthers (9-11, 3-2), who took a 35-24 halftime lead.
Chaney 37, East Palestine 32
EAST PALESTINE — Chaney connected on 17 of 38 free throws to turn back East Palestine.
East Palestine (5-15) led 25-21 after three quarters, but the Cowboys (7-13) outscored the Bulldogs 16-7 during the fourth period.
Whitli Sanders sparked the Cowboys with 13 points. Alyssa Sykes chipped in with 11. Kali George led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Logan Guy grabbed nine rebounds and she had three assists and four steals.
Ashtabula Sts. John & Paul 58,
Youngstown Christian 54
ASHTABULA— Mallory Johnson scored 19 points while Nicole Powlowski had 16, including four 3-point goals, to lead Ashtabula Sts. John & Paul (14-6, 6-2 East Suburban Conference).
Vickie Bankhead had 15 points to lead Youngstown Christian (6-14, 2-6 ESC), while Chelsey Tate added 12 with seven rebounds, Rashida Strozier 10 points and Kristi Cooper nine with six rebounds. Sara Bell had six steals and six rebounds.
Struthers 55, Columbiana 49
COLUMBIANA — Ashley Galbraith and Dana Mathews had 17 points apiece for Struthers, which led the entire game in the non-league encounter.
Halle Minchin-Shook added 12 points for Struthers, which made 17 of 26 free throws to stay in the game, despite having its lead whittled to four in the fourth quarter.
Junior Kaylee Couchenour had 14 points, while sophomore Katie Witmer added 11 points for Columbiana (11-9).

Jackson-Milton 24
MINERAL RIDGE — Heather Reinhart led the Rams (2-18) with 19 points. Laurin Garcia contributed 14 while Nicole Honsaker had nine.
For the Bluejays (3-17), Jillian Adams and Jamie Braham each scored eight points.
Lisbon 36, Leetonia 28
LEETONIA — The Bears (15-5), ahead 28-25 heading into the fourth quarter, were shut out 11-0 by the Blue Devils during the last eight minutes of the game. Lisbon had beaten Leetonia 41-27 last Nov. 29.
Erica Snoddy, who had six rebounds and six steals, and Megan Reynolds each scored 10 points for the Blue Devils. Sarah Weikart led the Bears with nine points, while Clarissa Perkins pulled down eight rebounds.
McDonald 74, Bristol 33
McDONALD — Junior Lindsey Repp had a season-high 22 points for McDonald (19-1).
Emily Dolsak grabbed 11 of McDonald’s 40 rebounds and Dolsak also had six of her team’s 18 assists.
The Blue Devils have won nine in a row since losing Game 11 to Leetonia when McDonald started 10-0.
Alyssa Giesy had 10 of her 20 points in the second period for Bristol (3-17).
Newton Falls 70, Lakeview 65
NEWTON FALLS — Kelsey McGregor scored 21 points and the Tigers got scoring contributions from nine different players in the Trumbull Athletic Conference victory.
Jaci Dach added 11 points for Newton Falls (11-9, 8-6), which outscored the Bulldogs 19-13 in the fourth quarter.
Joanna Novotny scored 36 points for Lakeveiw (7-13, 5-9).
Hubbard 52, Girard 34
HUBBARD — Cara Julian powered the Eagles to their ninth TAC win by scoring 17 points.
Abbie DeLuco scored nine for Hubbard (11-9, 9-5).
For Girard (1-19, 1-13), Melissa Weitzman score eight points.
LaBrae 35, Champion 27
LEAVITTSBURG — Angelica Pugh scored 18 points and Bayle Boggs added eight points and seven rebounds to lead LaBrae (12-8, 9-5).
Erika Stevens led Champion (1-19, 1-13) with 11 points.
Lordstown 41, Mathews 33
KINSMAN — The Red Devils (12-7, 6-6) held the Mustangs (10-10, 7-5) to one point in the third quarter as it built a 32-19 lead in the Northeastern Athletic Conference contest.
Heather Wickline scored six of Lordstown’s 11 points in the third points and she finished with 10 points and had five rebounds and four steals. Brianna Blodgett added 10 points and she grabbed nine rebounds. Lindsey Harrison had seven steals. Alli Stein paced the Mustangs with 11 points.
Lordstown will take on Southington in the Division IV sectional tournament Saturday at Hubbard High School at 4:45 p.m.
