SteelHounds notes: Youngstown (26-15-2) is coming off a lackluster 5-3 loss to the Texas Brahmas at home on Wednesday. That defeat snapped a four-game winning streak. Eric Przepiorka continues to lead Youngstown with 21 goals and 54 points and a plus-18 plus-minus rating. Chris Richards has 35 assists and Peter Pohl has 17 goals and 32 assists. In goal Andy Franck is 17-8-1 with a 2.78 goals against average. This weekend’s three games are vital for both teams; the SteelHounds have 54 points and Mississippi has 52. They are in a battle for second place in the CHL’s Northeast Division and with Colorado for third place in the Northern Conference.
RiverKings notes: Mississippi (25-14-2) has won three of its last four games but hasn’t played since Feb. 1, a 5-4 overtime loss to Laredo. The RiverKings are led in scoring by LW Ryan Campbell (18-28-46), F Chad Woollard (21-18-39) and centers Ryan Held (17-20-37) and Louis Dumont (11-24-35). Goalie Sebastien Centomo is 13-9-1 with a 2.48 GAA.
Flightless waterfowl: The National Aviary in Pittsburgh will bring a live African penguin to the Chevrolet Centre for Saturday’s game.
