Horse’s partner dog available for adoption
YOUNGSTOWN — The black male Labrador retriever dog abandoned by his owner after the dog and a miniature horse got loose on the South Side last week is up for adoption and can be seen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Angels for Animals, state Route 165, Canfield. The 4-year-old dog, first called Lucky, has been renamed Nelson, after his rescuer, Dave Nelson, a deputy dog warden. Diane Less of Angels for Animals said anyone interested in Nelson who can’t see the animal in person at the shelter can call her at (330) 502-5352. She said Nelson was neutered on Friday and heartworm was detected for which he must be treated. She’s still hoping to find him a good home.
