Canfield divers advance to district meet

AKRON — Canfield High divers Elizabeth Wilkens and Alexandra McClurg have advanced to the Division I district diving competition next week at Cleveland State University.

At the sectional meet Wednesday, Wilkens, a sophomore, finished in fourth place with a score of 367.25, and McClurg, a senior, was 10th with 319.35. The top 10 divers advanced to the district meet.

Wilkens was fifth after the preliminary rounds of dives, while McClurg was 10th.

Emma Pierson, a Canfield sophomore, finished 14th with a score of 277.40.

The swimming competition began today with preliminary heats.
