Booth set up Sunday to recruit minorities for YPD
YOUNGSTOWN — A booth will be set up to do minority recruiting for the Youngstown Police Department from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Four Seasons Flea Market on McCartney Road.
Detective Sgt. Delphine Baldwin Casey of the planning and training division said YPD doesn’t attract enough minorities — black, Hispanic, Asian and Middle Eastern — and she’d like to see that change.
The YPD roster shows 141 white men; 23 black men; six white women; five black women; seven Hispanic men; and three Hispanic women. The civil service test for applicants is expected to be given in April.
