Austintown man charged with rape

YOUNGSTOWN — Eric D. Johnston, 48, of Howard Avenue, Austintown, was arrested at his home on a warrant charging him with four counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of rape.

Police said agents of the Youngstown Street Crimes Unit and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force made the arrest around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

A police report sais that Johnston made a death threat against an unidentified female as he was taken into custody.

The police report gave no indication of where the alleged assaults occurred or the age of the victim.

Johnston was lodged in Mahoning County jail pending arraignment.
