YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Club, on the fifth floor of the Commerce Building, 201 E. Commerce St., will be the setting for a wine-tasting event from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 16.

Cost is $25 per person. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling Emerine Estates at (330) 519-5415 or at the door. Proceeds will benefit Art Youngstown Inc., which provides gallery space for local artists and is involved in the Downtown Youngstown Renaissance.

Town Hall meeting
at Jewish center

YOUNGSTOWN — A Town Hall meeting that will focus on judicial independence will be held Feb. 25 at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

The free public event is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Trumbull County and Greater Youngstown, Trumbull and Mahoning County bar associations, Kent State University Trumbull Campus, Youngstown State University and the Community Mobilization Committee.

Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the program is scheduled from 7 to 9. During the evening Miriam Fife, victim rights advocate for Trumbull County, and the Raymond John Wean Foundation will be honored for their community involvement. The League of Women Voters of Trumbull County will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 in the community room at Howland Library. The program will provide general information on observer programs of the organization and there will be a discussion on voter registrations. Call (330) 367-4886 for more information on the meeting.

Orchid Society plans
spring show in Akron

AKRON — The Greater Akron Orchid Society will present its 2008 Spring Orchid Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 1 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 2 at Donzell’s Flower and Garden Center, 937 E. Waterloo Road.
