TOP 25 ROUNDUP | Wednesday’s games

No. 2 Duke 89, No. 3 North Carolina 78

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Duke’s depth really took care of short-handed North Carolina. Greg Paulus scored 18 points and was one of six players in double figures as the Blue Devils ended a three-game losing streak in the heated rivalry. Jon Scheyer added 17 points for Duke (20-1, 8-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which ran its spread-the-floor offense to perfection most of the night and repeatedly knocked down 3-point shots to control the game almost the entire way. Duke led by as many as 11 points in the first half and never trailed after the break. Tyler Hansbrough had 28 points and 18 rebounds in what became virtually a one-man effort for the Tar Heels (21-2, 6-2), who looked a step off all night without injured point guard Ty Lawson. Lawson sprained his left ankle in the weekend win at Florida State.

No. 12 Texas 64, Oklahoma 54

NORMAN, Okla. — A.J. Abrams scored 22 points and backcourt partner D.J. Augustin added 19 points and seven assists to lead Texas over its rival. Blake Griffin had 19 points and nine rebounds for Oklahoma (15-7, 3-4), which lost to its Red River rival for the fourth straight time.

No. 19 Connecticut 63, Syracuse 61

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Jeff Adrien had 19 points and 12 rebounds, A.J. Price added 14 points and Connecticut won its sixth straight game. Connecticut (17-5, 7-3 Big East) survived when Jonny Flynn’s desperation 3 from the top of the key fell short at the buzzer. Craig Austrie finished with 11 points, and Hasheem Thabeet blocked seven shots for the Huskies.

No. 20 Kansas St. 74, Nebraska 59

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Michael Beasley had 35 points and 13 rebounds to tie a Kansas State single-season record with his 18th double-double. Aleks Maric had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Nebraska (13-7, 2-5).

No. 22 Notre Dame 95, Seton Hall 69

NEWARK, N.J. — Luke Harangody had 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Kyle McAlarney scored 19 for Notre Dame. Jeremy Hazell scored 26 points, Brian Laing had 18 and Jamar Nutter 11 for the Pirates (15-8, 5-5).

No. 23 Vanderbilt 67, Georgia 59

ATHENS, Ga. — Reclaiming his spot in the lineup, Ross Neltner hit two key baskets in the final two minutes to help Vanderbilt win its second straight. Alex Gordon scored 14 points for the Commodores (19-4, 4-4 Southeastern Conference), including two free throws with 30.3 seconds left that clinched it.
