Navy support center to get new commander


VIENNA — Navy Lt. Cmdr. Fredrick S. Vincenzo, a 1993 graduate of the Naval Academy, will assume command of the Navy Operational Support Center at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station on Saturday during a 2:30 p.m. change of command ceremony.

Vincenzo and the outgoing commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr. Brad Davidson, both graduated from the Naval Academy in the spring of 1993.

Vincenzo, a St. Louis, Mo., native, comes here from the U.S. Forces Korea Staff in Seoul, Korea, where he worked in the Maritime Operations and Plans section. He graduated from the academy with a bachelor of science degree in oceanography.

Davidson, who graduated from the academy with a bachelor of science degree in economics, has commanded the Navy Operational Support Center since November 2005.

For his next assignment, Davidson will deploy to Afghanistan in support of the NATO International Security Assistance Force.

Since September, 2001, some 95 members of the Youngstown Center have mobilized in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and the Global War on Terror.
