Former YSU coach Beede to be honored at banquet

The Penguin Club will salute former football coach Dwight “Dike” Beede” at the scholarship/ring dinner at Mr. Anthony’s Feb. 12. Doors for the event open at 6 p.m. with dinner being held from 6:15-7:15. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. The Penguin Club, in correlation with the university’s centennial celebration, is recognizing Beede for his life-long contributions to the community, the university and the football program. Beede helped start the football program in 1938 and remained coach through 1972. His players have been invited to return for the event. Tickets for the event are $100 each, $500 for a table of four and $800 for a table of seven. Tickets can be purchased Feb. 11 at the YSU athletic ticket office or by calling (330) 941-1YSU.
