Turner leads Ursuline past Berkshire, 69-61

BURTON — Jamal Turner tossed in 22 points and led Ursuline past Berkshire, 69-61, Tuesday night.

Nick McCartney added 16 points, including four 3-point goals, while LaVance Turnage had 14 points and Dominique Cole 11 for the Irish (10-8).

Berkshire (12-5) was led by Brock Burzanko with 14 points.

Mooney 73, Lakeside 58

YOUNGSTOWN — The Cardinals rushed out to a 29-11 lead in the first quarter and they increased that margin to 41-20 by the intermission.

L.J. Sutton scored 20 points to lead the Cardinals’ (9-8) balanced scoring attack. Mike Gemma, who grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ronnie Martino added 16 apiece and Tim Marlowe had 12. Donald D’Alesio had four assists and Martino had three steals.

Mark Hester and Emillio Parks led the Dragons (7-11) with 21 and 14 points, respectively.

Toledo Scott 60

WARREN — Junior guards Sheldon Brogdon (23 points) and Desmar Jackson (20 points, six assists) led a balanced attack as the Raiders pounced on visiting Toledo Scott and didn’t let up.

Chris Henderson added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Isaiah Henderson had 13 points and Damian Eargle 12 for Harding (16-1), which took a 52-28 halftime lead.

David Sweeney scored 20 points with four assists for Scott.

Youngstown Christian 67,
Heritage Christian 51

CANTON — The Eagles, ahead 42-41 heading into the final eight minutes outscored Heritage Christian 25-10 to seal the victory in the contest played at Malone College.

Olonzo Johnson, David Colbert and Victor Shaw sparked the Eagles (11-6) with 22, 20 and 15 points, respectively. Derek Fostyk led Heritage with 18 points and Josh Davidson added 10.

Mass. Jackson 57, West Branch 51

BELOIT — West Branch rallied from a 15-point first-half deficit to take the lead, but Massillon Jackson was accurate at the free throw line down the stretch to pull off the win.

The Warriors (10-8) were led by Vic Pappas with 12 points and Trent Woods with 11. West Branch also outrebounded Jackson 23-18 with Alex Stull getting seven.

Edison 77, Beaver Local 69

LISBON — Beaver Local, trailing 36-20 at halftime, made a gallant second half effort, but fell short against Edison.

Beaver Local (1-16) was led by Ethan Russell with 19 points and Zack Zelinsky with 17. Edison put four players in double figures led by Casey Wickham with 18 and Cale McCoy with 17.
