Springfield pulls out win over Crestview
The Tigers rallied in the final quarter for a 50-46 victory.
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield needed a big rally in the final quarter to pull out a 50-46 victory over Crestview in an Inter Tri-County League Tier One game Tuesday night. The Tigers (11-7, 8-6) trailed the Rebels (9-10, 6-8) 37-28 after three quarters, but outscored Crestview 22-9 in the final quarter. The Tigers, who didn’t have a player in double figures, were led by Todd Kibby and Joe Musial with nine points each. Crestview’s top scorers were Jimmy Smith with 16 and Jacob Leon with 13.
East Palestine 54, Lisbon 25
EAST PALESTINE — The Bulldogs (14-5, 9-5) held the Blue Devils (0-19, 0-14) to eight points in the first quarter and two in the second for a 23-10 halftime lead in the ITCL Tier One contest and Lisbon couldn’t make up the difference. J.C. Bollinger scored 19 points to spark the Bulldogs. Ben Gysin added 17 and he pulled down 13 of 24 rebounds. Wes Best had five assists and Nick DiCello had four. Todd Padurean led Lisbon with seven points.
United 54, South Range 50
NORTH LIMA — The Raiders (8-12, 5-9) built a 32-29 lead by intermission, but the Golden Eagles (11-7, 9-5) bounced back to outscore South Range 25-18 in the second half for the ITCL Tier One victory. Jimmy Phillis led United with 22 points. Bill Prasko added 10. Joe Mihlan led the Raiders with 21 points.
Leetonia 54, McDonald 51
McDONALD — Josh Selway scored 17 points and Leetonia took a 17-10 first quarter lead en route to an upset over the host Blue Devils in an ITCL Tier Two contest. Cody Mead added 12 points for the Bears (8-11, 6-8). Adam Streb scored 18 points and Lance Ronghi added 12 for the Blue Devils (14-4, 10-4).
Southern 100, Jackson-Milton 54
SALINEVILLE — The Indians put five players in double figures in cruising to the victory in the ITCL Tier Two game. Tyler Baker led the Indians with 25 points. Andrew Diaz and Ethan Blatch added 15 apiece, while Nathan Melhorn added 13 and Darren Mills had 12. Jacob Carlile led the Bluejays (0-20, 0-14) with 16 points and Tim Ensign finished with 15 and Scott Campbell with 10.
Wellsville 82, Lowellville 49
WELLSVILLE — Jaimon Edison made 11 goals and three free throws as his 27 points led the once-beaten Tigers. Zane Carter’s 15 points and Jeremy Carter’s 14 points also gave a boost to the ITCL’s Tier Two leader at 13-1. Wellsville (18-1) converted 35 goals, while Lowellville made only 17. Equaling the game-high output of 27 points was Lowellville’s Zach Matisi. The Rockets (4-14, 4-10) managed to stay within 40-35 at the half, until being outscored in the third quarter, 24-2.
